My return visit to Centre Hall - Potter Elementary!

The Assembly

Check out these stories:

The four ingredients: a policeman kid in the jungle wants to eat a car (?) up against an evil guy

The story: the eating a car thing threw me off... I'm still not sure what this story is about. It's something about a gorilla building a car out of bananas, but I didn't really work in the bit about the kid eating a car.

The Workshops

Let's start with Kindergarten.

We imagined that a bulldog wanted to go on a trip to the big city he had seen on TV. So he hopped on the back of a Big City Dog hot dog truck and rode it into the city.

But after a day on the street, he wasn't having fun until two new friends found him. They ended their fun day together eating some hot dogs together.

We talked about how sometimes friends can make a new situation more fun.

A boy wants to get out of school. So he keeps telling the teacher he sees a monster outside of school. He's making it up... so he thinks. When he's finally told to leave, he steps outside and surprise!... there's a real boy monster there who wants him to be his show and tell at Monster School!

The kids enjoyed telling me how to draw the monster, including adding an earring.

This farmer keeps having a nightmare that a cow is out to get him. But just like the last story, there really is a cow out to get him! The cow kidnaps the guy's girlfriend because the cow wants the farmer to share some of the dairy products he gets from all the milking.

So, he offers some hay ice cream. Will the cow be satisfied? I don't know.

Farmer Vs. Cow is a lame title I came up with on the spot. Later I thought to add: I Double Dairy You.

This story was fairly strange, and I'm not exactly sure how it all worked out. It had to do with garden gnomes turning a girl bunny into a rampaging, garden-chopping zombie by night and a statue by day. This boy bunny is trying to break the curse by holding a pose on her pedestal until the moon comes out.

And finally, for my favorite drawing of the day, here's a tale about a bird who climbs to the top of a dead tree to the nest of a female he wants to impress. But he's so good at sneaking he frightens her right out of the nest! I'm really happy with the perspective I got on this. (It makes up for the lame banana car above.)

Remember, kids: use your ideas. The best way to stay being creative is to share the ideas you have with others. You are creative! Don't lose such a great gift!
