My visit to Ringtown Elementary!

Over the mountains and through the woods to Ringtown School I go... got a catchy tune, doesn't it? Tucked away at the foothills of rolling mountains lies this charming school. Through the many conversations I had with Ms. Kaufman, I had come to expect a great day. This is a school that celebrates reading and writing!
Both assemblies gave me great doodlers. See the column to the right for examples of their imagination. The ways they saw interesting pictures in simple shapes amazed me!

Then my two "story maker teams" came up with funny, original plots:

The younger group came up with a kitten that goes to great and dangerous lengths to get a pair of wings.
The older crowd gave me this funny story. A genius scientist frog creates a mutated, robot chicken to seize the annoying bell of the cow. Seems that the frog wants to sleep in just once in his life. (Sounds like kids who were ready for their spring break!)
How Our Wacky Workshops Work!
First, we come up with a shape, then turn the shape into an animal or person. This shape became a rabbit. So then we sent the rabbit on an adventure. The young students wanted the bunny to cross a stream to find a friend in town. Along the way, he gets a surprise!
Doodle-Mania!
The assembly for the older kids produced a fantastic doodle-team. Look at these drawings and see if you can find the common doodle that started them all.
A truly great job, one and all!
Keep the ideas flowing, kids! Remember, your imaginations need exercise to stay healthy. Put your thoughts and drawings down on paper! Share them with your friends!
